Providing Community Transport Services To The Downland Villages Of West Berkshire

The Downland Volunteer Group own a minibus with capacity for 13 passengers.

It is used for regular weekly shopping trips to Newbury, Didcot and Wantage. There is a standard fare of £4 return for all trips that is used to offset the running costs of the bus.

Passengers are collected from their home and dropped off for either town centre or supermarket shopping. When passengers return home they can get assistance with their shopping carried to their door if required.

 

The table opposite shows the villages covered for shopping trips and the destinations they visit. New and different destinations can be added if there is enough interest and support to make the trip viable.

The bus can also be booked for community based activities including group outings for organisations, trips to the seaside or other attractions: theatre trips, Christmas parties, etc.
